This roundtable seeks to address emergent questions regarding medieval race and racialization as they relate to the Iberian peninsula. Contributions may address such issues such as the accuracy of emerging definitions of given historical specificity of medieval Iberia, the loci (whether conceptual, institutional or geographic) of racializing practices, alternate modes for constructing difference, intersections with contemporary racisms, aspects relating to our pedagogical praxis, etc.

NOTE: The blended format makes it possible for speakers to present and audiences to attend both in-person and online. We welcome proposals both from scholars planning to attend ICMS on the ground in Kalamazoo and those attending virtually from around the world.

Your proposal should include your name, affiliation, and contact information; a 100-200 word abstract for consideration by session organizer(s); and a short description (50 words max.) that may be made public. Roundtable contributions do not have titles. You should also indicate in your abstract whether you intend to present in person or virtually.
